Everyone is an elocutionist

What is a monologue? Two weeks ago, this question may confused me a lot. However, after nearly two weeks' practice, I become familiar and even fall in love with monologues.

To start with, I personally like Caroline's monologue best. First of all, she was so good at memorizing. It seemed so easy for her to memorize the long and complicated monologue. She could present the monologue fluently like singing a song and hardly ever made any mistakes while for me, memorizing was the most difficult part. Besides memorizing, her intonation was great. Her voice was tender and soft. However, it is not weak at all. We could heard everything she said clearly. Furthermore, her emotion was great. She could express Bella's feeling veraciously. It was not like acting but actually her own feeling. Every time she shaked her head or shrugged her shoulder, she expressed the perplexion and desperation of Bella. She made the character alive! Last but not least, the scene which she rubbed the paper was a great success. It not only emerged the desperation of Bella, but also told audience the truth that she never knows Alice's real address which made us feel more regretful. By the way, I love her representation and I think she has chosen the best monologue for herself.

Second, I think I did a bad job in this monologue. There were a lot of things I didn't do well. Firstly, my memorization was awful. I spent most of my time trying to remember the easy words of my monologue. However, I still made a mistake during the representation. Second, my tone was flat. Because of my intension, I hardly changed my tone in order to make sure that the words were correct. Thus, my emotion was also scarce. I couldn't speak the words in an appropriate way although I did know what kind of emotion did the character want to express. As for me, I think the only part I did well was that I have expressed the anger of him. In addition, my gesture was totally a mess. Not only my hands were moving badly, but also my legs and face. They were all out of control!!!!! Nevertheless, I believe that in the future, I will be better and better.

To be honest, I have already made some progress. For instance, I even can't finish speaking the monologue at first because of bad memorization. However, I finally achieved to memorize it. I could not help smiling at first, and can not thro myself into the monologue. After practice and practice, I could basically get over it.

In the future, I hope that I could be more confident about myself and stand in front of people without intension, or at least hide my intension perfectly. I also want to practice my pronunciation and speak articulately. I believe I will get it finally.

To tell the truth, public speaking class has helped me a lot, although I have just taken about six classes. I remember that I used to be really nervous to speak in public. When I spoke in front of people, my face got red and my voice trembled. The pace of my speaking got faster and faster, and my arms waved around without being controlled. Because of this, I hardly ever answered questions in my previous classes although I knew the correct answers most of the time.
In order to deal with this situation,  I chose public speaking which surprised me a lot. In the first class, I was really shy, and hardly participate the conversation and discussion. Even when I participate, I pretended that I was not interested in those activities to cover my embarrasses. Fortunately,  my teacher encouraged me a lot. She always smiled and led me to say things in a correct way. Besides, all the classmates were very friendly, they never laughed at me when I made mistakes. With their help, my speaking English improved a lot and I got braver and braver to speak in front of people.
I believe that after the half-year study with Mrs. Guarino, I will be able to speak in public aforesaidly. And I am sure that the things I learnt from Mrs. Guarino will be helpful in my whole further life.
Thank you! Mrs. Guarino!

Whoooo am I

Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you .

Life changes too much for me that I left my country, my family, my friends and everything I am familiar with for the first time. The brand new life is not as glorious as I thought before. The language problem, etexts problem, making friends with strangers, ect. All kinds of trouble show up and bother me a lot.I always can not help missing the original life I have in china. However, every night when I look at the sky, I saw stars shiny and bright. They are just like the smiles of people who always encourages me and make me brave, insistent and optimistic.
I want use this song to thank people who always care for and stay with me, they are forever the twinkling stars shining for me all the time.

I could be catching a wave
I could be seeing the world
I could be riding with the top down
Kissing my girl

The reason why I am here is simple: Going to somewhere else and having a larger view. In order to achieve this goal, I gave up a lot. I cry a lot and  miss the food in China all the time. However, I never regret because I believe there will be some day I stand in a higher place than other people, seeing more fantastic view than other people although I have to pay a lot more work than others. I have to fight with loneliness, struggle with laziness, I have to keep going and going in order not to fall back to where I used to be. Everyone should have their own dreams, moving to somewhere else rather than staying in a place all the time until died. Only if we experienced different things, deal with different trouble, we will be able to know how important our home is, and have motivation and responsibility to fight for family and future.

Werever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
                                      ——Right here waiting.  ww.youtube.com/watch?v=S_E2EHVxNAE
Like the lyric said, I hear your voice on the line, but it doesn't stop the pain. Long-distance love is truly hurt. We can only contact each other by texting and calling. You don't kno what is really going on, you don't know the emotion of him, you can touch and hug him like you were really together. Nevertheless, distance and jet lag can not separate couples who are really in love. As long as you hold on to your faith, their will be a day you are able to walk to him, with confidence and  maturity, getting ready to have a happy marriage. I believe that the day will finally come. So I try to work hard, keep fit, mesmerize more word, participate in lots of activities. I will just wait patiently for the day I could stand by you undoubtly.

Three goals for class
1# End with an A
2# Be able to speak in public comfortably
3# Can learning the ways to speak, stand, smile and so on in public.
